
The real question, how do I get my business on the Internet?
The answer to this question is "it depends". It can be very simple or complex depending entirely on what you want to do on the Internet.
The following options detail Internet implementations for your business from simple to complex.
- Simple "brochure"
- We place text and photos online, clients contact you via published phone number. All you need is the actual text and photographs. We scan and digitize the content.
- Online Communications
- Text and photos online, clients can email or fill out a Web form to contact you electronically. You need to have an Email account to receive Email and Form mail inquires from Internet customers and clients.
- Information Sharing
- Publish detailed products and services information online, update it regularly. Instruction/user manuals or specification information viewable online. Great for content that changes frequently. You will likely have to have some simple expertise in-house in the way of MS Word or PageMill to update the pages directly. An FTP program will be used to update the pages on the Internet. Or, the changed content can be emailed to us and we will perform the update (this would not be as timely as if you had an individual at you company performing the updates as needed).
- Online Ordering
- Accept orders online via an online form or faxed order forms. Accept Credit card information utilizing data encryption security. You receive an Email with the order and credit card information in unreadable text. You run a program against the email (via the click of a button) and enter a password. The email is now readable.
- Merchant Account
- Process credit card transactions over the Internet. This option allows you to enter a customers credit card information on the Internet and receive payment from Visa of MC to your business bank account.
- Internet Applications
- Bulletin Boards, Chat, Classified Ads, Mailing Lists, Auctions, Shopping Carts, File Transfer, Secure Member Information� There are many, many free application available on the Internet that can be incorporated onto your site. The software is free, but it does take time to implement the application to usually custom specifications. This usually involves one time programming charges.
Option 1 does not require you to have Internet access at all.
Option 2-6 requires Internet access such as AOL, Flashnet or Earthlink, and that is all you need, you do not need routers, hubs, servers, a dedicated T1, DSL or a dedicated IS staff.
